Herb Profile : Cowslip (Primula veris)

As a child I remember the boggy parts of meadows on my grandparents farm teeming with this beautiful and gracefully bright plant. Nowadays it has become an endangered species in the wild due to the loss of this habitat. Near where I live there are many hundreds growing on the wide grassy area that lies between the dual carriageway. I assume they have been introduced there and are certainly thriving – they are a sight to behold.

Cowslip is a sedative, calming nerve tonic, which prevents spasm. I use it regularly for restlessness, hyperactivity, anxiety, panic attacks etc.
N.B. excessive dosage causes vomiting.
